Meet Mel
Melody Edwards is a sparkly brained creative, and serial entrepreneur who has built, acquired, and sold businesses for more than 25 years; starting with a small import/export business, an errand service, multiple home service companies, and a coffee shop. Today she focuses on Home Service VA, a virtual assistant agency that provides training and creates living-wage jobs for virtual assistants in the Philippines.
Her story is shaped by contradictions: raised evangelical in one of the country’s most liberal regions, she spent part of her youth in a cult church, which left her with a lifelong crisis of faith. That questioning spirit still shapes the way she builds businesses and makes decisions.
After years of feeling isolated in an industry that often rewards shortcuts and profit over people, Melody and Curt launched The Soul Proprietor Podcast, an honest, unpolished space to explore

Meet Curt
Curt is the founder of a values-first software company serving home service businesses across the country. A lifelong entrepreneur and recovering literalist, Curt brings both conviction and curiosity to the conversations on Soul Proprietor.
Raised and practicing as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormonism), Curt views faith and business as deeply intertwined—but often more nuanced than many around him see it. At the heart of Curt’s work is a passion for helping others find meaning in their business journey. Whether exploring the challenges of leadership, the tension between profit and purpose, or the bigger questions of existence and legacy, he is committed to fostering honest dialogue that enriches both life and work.
